Traveling is exciting, however, it also can be irritating sometimes when you are in trouble and having no contact to reach out for in case of emergency. In that case, the only people that could help you sometimes is a local person who speaks no English at all but so kind enough to help you through it. Me as a female solo traveler before, I have lost my money, ran late for train or gotten lost with my heavy backpack with a phone being dead. Thus, when I go back to Hue to run my business, not only I try to create a wonderful time for my guests in Hue City, but I always told my staff to prioritize our clients safety and well-beings. There are all sorts of unexpected incidents that possibly go wrong any time but the problem that you are going to read below is surprisingly awkward! When I read about it from my trainee, Lien Tran who followed the tour, I was incredibly surprised but deeply thankful to have such amazing staff who solved the tension in a nice manner immediately while continuing to help tourists enjoy the tour till the end.
This is a part of Lien’s journal during her time being an intern at Beebee Travel.
“On June 12, I did the sixth tour in BeeBee Travel with Mr. Tu and 5 clients.
What an amazing tour with amazing tourists!
There were two friendly sisters from America who are students but was eager to know our history and culture. An Indian man also paid great attention on Mr. Tu’s speech. And a 69-year-old mother with her 45-year-old daughter from Australia, they joined our tour with an exciting attitude and kept it until the last moment of the tour.
All of them were very cooperateive during the tour by answering most of the questions Mr. Tu asked, especially the mother who was knowledgeable regarding Vietnamese history and wars. I felt the tour on that day like a cultural exchange session between friends about Vietnam and I had to say that Mr. Tu was really clever and smart in recognizing and empowering tourists’ strength and inspiring them to participate in his discussion as well.
This is an important skill that not many tour guides can do in my opinion. In addition, he handled an unexpected problem on that tour very smoothly and timely. When we stopped at a religious monument, there was a man (who had mental problem) approaching Margi and then suddenly kissed her upper arm. While I was surprised and confused with a mess in my mind and tried to find words to explain to her about his behavior, Mr. Tu quickly led everyone to leave that attraction with his calm manner. Keep calm when guiding and find a solution to protect my clients immediately are what I learned from him on that tour.
The more tour I did, the more things I could learn through the lead guide and tourists. What I impress the most about Mr. Tu as a lead guide is that he is enthusiastic and energetic all the time during the tour and wants to show more and more to our clients. Besides, he is good at talking to them and keeping the conversation going.
Thank you Mr. Tu for all!
Thank you Beebee Travel for giving me this amazing chance to become a wonderful guide for my guests in the future!
